As the Assistant Director of Student Services, I support the Director of Student Services in many areas including preschool. Waukee Community School District’s Preschool Program has been a part of Waukee schools for many years. Much like Waukee’s school-age programs, our preschool program is growing.
Currently, we have four sites for the Preschool Program. Grant Ragan’s site was temporarily moved to Vince Meyer Learning Center in downtown Waukee. We also have preschool classrooms at Maple Grove Elementary, Walnut Hills Elementary and Woodland Hills Elementary. All sites serve both three-year-old and four-year-old students.
Waukee Community School District’s Preschool Program has two sessions that meet on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday using the same school break calendar as the school-age programs. The morning session meets from 9:00 am – 11:30 am and the afternoon session meets from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Lunch is not provided.
Waukee Community Schools Preschool Program follows the Iowa Quality Preschool Programming Standards to provide quality educational programming for our students. Teachers use the Iowa Early Learning Standards and Creative Curriculum to guide their instruction. They use Creative Curriculum GOLD to assess their students’ learning and provide learning opportunities that include play, discovery, and positive social interactions.
