Nutrition
Waukee Nutrition Services prepares and serves about 8,000 breakfasts and lunches daily. By the end of this school year, approximately 1.6 million meals will be served in the Waukee Community School District.
All school meals meet federal nutrition standards by offering fruits and vegetables, serving whole grain-rich foods, and limiting fat, calories, and sodium.

Waukee’s Technology Department
The Technology Department helps maintain a safe and ethical digital environment where our learning community can develop and reinforce the critical thinking, creative problem solving, and communication skills needed for life-long learners.
The department provides support to 21 buildings including software support for all district-approved applications and is responsible for both data and voice networks.

12+ Program
Welcome to Waukee Preschool!
We are thrilled to be a part of your child’s first steps in their educational journey and are excited to partner with you throughout the school year. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lyndsay Mount and I am the Assistant Director of Student Services. I support the Director of Student Services in many areas including preschool. Waukee’s Preschool Program has been a part of Waukee schools for many years and, much like our school-age programs, our preschool is growing!
All of our preschool classrooms are located at Vince Meyer Learning Center in the heart of Waukee. We have fourteen teachers serving both three- and four-year-old students. Seven of our teachers will serve three-year-olds in the mornings and the other seven will serve four-year-olds in the mornings. All fourteen teachers will serve four-year-olds in the afternoons. All of our classes meet Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday starting the Tuesday after Labor Day. Our morning sessions are 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and afternoon classes meet 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Waukee Community School District is a rapidly growing and increasingly diverse school district. We believe every individual’s unique background and culture enhance our schools. Our preschool is also growing and, to better prepare Waukee’s students for kindergarten, we are expanding the number of students served within the preschool program. Starting the 2023-2024 school year, we will no longer have 3-year-old classes of general education students but will continue to serve four-year-old students (those entering kindergarten in a year) in both the mornings and afternoons. We will, however, continue to serve three-year-olds with IEPs identified through the Child Find Process.

- The desired result of inclusive experiences for children with and without disabilities and their families should include a sense of belonging and membership, positive social relationships and friendships, and development and learning to reach their full potential.
- The defining features of inclusion that are used to identify high-quality early childhood programs and services are Access, Participation, and Support.
Waukee Community Schools Preschool Program follows the Iowa Quality Preschool Programming Standards to provide quality educational programming for our students. Teachers use the Iowa Early Learning Standards and Creative Curriculum to guide their instruction, and MyTeachingStrategies GOLD to assess their students’ learning. Preschool learning opportunities include play, discovery, and positive social interactions.
