District Facility Update
We would like to share an update regarding the use of district/school playgrounds. Last week, Governor Reynolds announced that playgrounds could reopen June 1. We are excited to announce Waukee Community School District playgrounds will open today. We encourage social distancing, washing hands, or using hand sanitizer prior to and after use, and if you are sick please stay home.
Please note the following:
- Six of our elementary schools will have summer child care (Beyond the Bell & YMCA) starting on June 8. Those schools are Brookview, Eason, Grant Ragan, Maple Grove, Shuler, and Waukee Elementary. Playgrounds and associated grounds are closed to the public at these three locations from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday – Friday in an effort to provide space for the students and staff.
- Due to construction at Timberline, the stadium and track are closed throughout this summer.
- Due to maintenance at the Waukee Stadium tennis courts, the reopening date is to be determined.
- Waukee Stadium will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday – Friday through August 21, 2020. The southwest z-gate will be the only gate open. We ask those utilizing the track, stadium bleachers and/or stadium turf to be respectful of the space.
In addition, while our high school baseball and softball programs started the 2020 season today, all district buildings and facilities remain closed to the public. We will continue to monitor any updates the orders from Governor Reynolds. We appreciate your cooperation!
